A few years ago, the Purdey website had a magnifying glass feature, so it was possible to go over the guns in minute detail. I remember there was a 4-10 that Paul Cheung engraved and it was absolutely perfect!

Honestly a thing of beauty built by very clever people. Fascinating video. Really enjoying the series.

When you buy one of these magnificent pieces of working art, you are not just buying a gun. It`s like inviting someone into your family. A lot of these fine Shotguns, will get passed down, from father , to son, to grandson. Made to the highest standard, they will stand the test of time. Beautiful and something I can only dream of.

Great insight, as an amateur the wood is the one part I go nowhere near except for refinishing. Super skills. I had no idea the stocker did so much metal work.

I'm curious , how many customers today request double triggers on a side by side shotgun?

As a craftsman myself, I love watching others, especially people at the very top in their field. If I had my time again, I think I would have fitted in well at Purdeys.

My grandfather who was a gamekeeper for the Frasers in Scotland taught me how to respect the rifle he carried when we went shooting, He was in the First World War and was such an amazing man full of love for his sport and for Scotland. I have such love for him and for what he achieved, My border terrier is called Purdey.

You don't shoot these guns, you put them in gun cabinets, to be admired. These are not shooters, these are lookers.

Why do best guns never have the lump through the bottom of the receiver? What are the pros and cons of that?

For me it would be a pair of Purdey over/under with a pair of 12-Gauge and 30-06 Improved barrels for each.

I had the opportunity to meet George, and shoot a few demo shotguns, at a Griffin & Howe event last year. The firearms are magnificent quality, and George is a true gentleman.

Some 48 years ago, I would go down to the local magazine store and purchase the latest. A few years later, I was lucky enough to find a local range and museum. It was a retirement project of a retired Major. His collection was in the range of 300 pieces. For 45 years he traded his collection to better examples of those he was interested in. As I continued in the sport, I had a deep appreciation of fine firearms. Any firearm - is just a firearm. A Purdey - is an investment in excellence. Thank you! Cheers!

Gorgeous anachronisms. Pity that the economies of scale make these objects d'art accessible to only those living in the rarified air of the elite. I've enjoyed many a fine day afield with friends and family with a Winchester model 12 as my shooting iron. Over the years my dance partner has changed a few times and at the present takes the form of a Ruger Red Label O/U in 12ga. I don't know how strong the market is for these beautiful firearms, but i hope that the final driven hunt or the Last Safari take place long after I'm gone for in my mind, the world will be a poorer place for their absence.
